Faction is where our winemaking story truly began. It’s the first wine we conceptualized, and it stands as the cornerstone of our offering. This 100% Syrah is sourced from the highly esteemed Stolpman Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley, at the heart of the proud new Ballard Canyon AVA. The vines are 100% organically dry-farmed and fight for water as the limestone soils drain quickly. The results are tiny, concentrated grapes and extremely low yields. The microclimate’s heat spikes, wind, and cold nights help create intense wines with a natural balance of structure and acidity. The fruit was harvested before sunrise on September 11, 2013, before it enjoyed a 24-hour cold soak, followed by a 13-day fermentation. The wine was pressed into neutral oak barrels and aged for 18 months.
