Our 100% Grenache Santa Barbara County Rosé is sourced from Watch Hill Vineyard in the cool corridor of Los Alamos Valley. These grapes are typically lower in potential alcohol and higher in acidity, which is one of the reasons we first sought out this ideal vineyard for our vision of a Provençal-style rosé. Watch Hill’s long and hilly rows result in wonderfully complex fruit, with bracing acidity contrasting lush ripeness. Before sunrise in the fall of 2014, we harvested clusters between 21% and 22% brix, and brought them into the winery where they were gently crushed. After three hours on the skins, the fruit was pressed into neutral oak barrels before the juice began an 18-day barrel fermentation. The wine was barrel aged for five months. 94 cases produced.
